Rossall School is among the most successful and prestigious independent boarding and day schools in the North West with flourishing pupil numbers. With an enticing and highly aspirational culture, Rossall School is offering opportunities for exceptional educators to come and work with supremely talented, inspiring and compassionate professionals to teach our hard working, ambitious and delightful pupils.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished and inspiring practitioner to lead our Design Technology Department from September 2025. The successful applicant will join a thriving and forward thinking department with a real passion for engaging and enthusing pupils at all levels in all areas of this diverse and popular subject.
We are looking for a qualified teacher who should be able and willing to teach Design Technology from KS3 up to A Level standard. Experience of the International Baccalaureate is desirable though not essential.
Design and Technology is a hugely popular subject at the school. This is a reflection of the exciting and diverse curriculum but also the outstanding facilities available to pupils. The DT department is well resourced and there is a dynamic and collegiate approach to the sharing of best practice amongst the dedicated and highly experienced colleagues.
The department is a well-equipped facility with an extensive mixed material workshop, alongside spacious separate design studios. We combine a strong belief in the ability to communicate ideas in the form of sketching and rendering, alongside the use of professional level CAD software and CAM provisions. Pupils having access to 3D printing, alongside the use of large format laser cutters and CNC routers.
Our students study across a wide range of disciplines, including Product Design, Graphic Design and Architecture. The department has well established relationships with a number of universities, as well as links with industry and runs highly popular annual trips to places such as the Vitra Design Museum in Germany, and the Cité de l'Automobile in France.
We aim to develop forward thinking, innovative and creative design students, who are able to combine a comprehensive design knowledge, with the skills required to communicate their ideas effectively.
As a School we also offer Food Studies on the timetable for pupils throughout the Senior School and prospective applicants with experience in this area may have the opportunity to teach in this department also.
